The spirit of the Balearic Island of Majorca comes to life in Barcelona tomorrow as the festival of Sa Pobla takes place. This festival runs from the 29th the 31st of January. It commemorates Saint Anthony and will take place in the neighbourhood of Gracia and more specifically in the Plaça del Diamant. This festival is a traditional Majorcan festival, where the square is decorated with candles. During this period traditional folk songs are sung and roast spicy sausages are eaten. There are also various exhibitions as well as book presentations.
The climax of this event will take place on Saturday the 31st of January with the “Hogueras de Sant Antoni” (the bonfires of St. Anthony) and traditional folk music, with the “zambomba” (a large drum bass) being played. This festival is quite special as it celebrates the very best in Majorcan culture. Events

El espíritu de la isla baleárica de Mallorca se enciende mañana en Barcelona, con la inauguración del festival de Sa Pobla. Este festival, en honor a Sant Antoni, tiene lugar hasta finales de enero. Se celebrará en el barrio de Gracia y específicamente en la Plaça del Diamant. Se trata de un festival tradicional mallorquín, en el que se decora la plaza con velas. Durante este período se cantan canciones folk y se come sobrasada asada. También se estrenarán exposiciones, y se presentarán libros.
El punto culminante de esto evento será este sábado el 31 de enero con las Hogueras de Sant Antoni y la música tradicional con la “zambomba”, que también forma parte del festival. Si quieren participar, el evento empezará a partir de las 10 de la mañana. El festival de Sa Pobla es bastante especial, porque expone lo mejor de la cultura mallorquina.
